The adventure begins!

Since the decision has been made a few months ago that we will be going to Berlin this summer, (you can read more about it here :)), I kept counting down the months, and at the end, the days till our trip finally starts. I mean, who doesn’t do that, right?! πŸ˜€ And today, the day has finally arrived! I have been excited about this trip ever since we booked everything for it, because, one, I love flying, but even more so because I will get to see new cities along the way and experience some new things along with it.

For our first stop of the trip, we have spent the day in and around Venice. We decided that the best choice for getting here would be to travel with Nomago InterCity bus, taking us straight to the Marco Polo airport. Nomago offers their passengers an option to book a family type of seats, where you get four seats surrounding a table in the middle. We decided to go for that, since it was much easier for the three of us. The seats felt very comfortable to sit in, they were spacy enough and there’s enough leg room, at least for me. πŸ™‚ You can also recline the seat a little bit, if you want to feel a bit more like you’re laying down, but the recline isn’t really that significant to be honest. I’m more used to sitting the right way up anyway, that’s also why I’m not that fond of the reclining seats. It’s just my own personal preference.
Because of our morning flight tomorrow, and because the first bus of the day leaving Ljubljana would get us to the airport with only minutes to spare, we’ve decided to leave a day early, so I’ve also booked us a suite at the Hotel Venice Resort for tonight, that we wouldn’t be in any rush to get to the airport in the morning. And, since we have arrived to Venice even before noon, there was more than enough time for us/me to check the airport a little first, and later on go see the city of Venice itself, because I haven’t been there before.

The resort, at first, looked very nice. The most important thing, for me, was the swimming pool, one of the decisive things why I even booked this resort in the first place. πŸ˜€

Dipping into the pool during such a hot day as today was, was probably the best thing that happened all day! But let’s focus on the room now. πŸ™‚ It is also quite lovely. It’s a triple room, with one double bed and another couch made into a bed. For this one night, that couch will be more than satisfactory for me. The double bed is located a floor higher than the couch, so it’s also a big enough room for the three of us. I do have to say that the staff is extremely helpful, very friendly and ready to help you with any question you might have. That is their job, of course, but still. Although, my first impression of the employee at the reception wasn’t that good, but it did get better eventually.

One of the biggest disadvantages that we have experienced was the fact that ALL of the restaurants in the area close at around 3 or 3:30pm. We tried to find one restaurant that was working at 5pm, but we had to wait for another half an hour for the first one to open. Eventually we did get in at Al Quadrante and ordered our food. The pizzas were really good, maybe a little on the thin side, but I guess that’s just the Italian way of making pizzas. I also tried gnocchi with gorgonzola cheese and it was also quite delicious. The price for all of the food and some drinks wasn’t that expensive to be honest, I was expecting it to be a lot higher than it actually was, considering the location where we are now.

During most of the day, after I found out the cost of the ferry taking us from Marco Polo airport to the city of Venice, it looked like we weren’t going to go to the city after all. But I wouldn’t be myself if I didn’t try to make it happen no matter what! πŸ˜€ So I asked a lady at the reception desk, here at the resort, if there are any cheaper alternatives. In the end, we ended up buying 3 return bus tickets from Tessera to Venice for 9€ all together, which compared to 45€ if we would have taken the ferry, is quite a bargain I would say.

The city of Venice.

We spent around 2 hours in the city, because we cut our visit a bit short, due to the late hour of getting there, considering that I have to wake up in just over 6 hours from the time of writing this. I didn’t get to see everything that I wanted, but I did get to visit Venice for a little bit at least. I’m sure there will be some more opportunities to see everything, but for today it was enough.

It was also quite a long and tiring day, no matter what, but still very fun! Now, as I’m sitting in the resort’s lobby and writing this, I’m already thinking about tomorrow and our flight to Berlin first, and who knows what’s going to happen after that. I’m sure it’s going to be another long day, but probably even more fun than today, cause we’re getting on a plane! πŸ˜€ So, stay tuned for more adventures tomorrow! πŸ™‚
