A new adventure awaits!

First of all I’d like to wish you all a very happy New Year! May it be filled with tons of love, happiness and most importantly, may it be a healthy and fun one! πŸ™‚ Since this is my first post in 2020, I thought it would be a good idea to start with that.

Now, it’s been quite some time since the last time you’ve heard (or read in this case :D) something from me. Things didn’t really turn out they way I’d hoped, which meant having less time for the things I actually prefer doing, than the ones I, kind of, have to do. No matter what, these days, it’s time for another one of my adventures, as you can tell from how I titled this post. πŸ™‚

So finally it was time to do something just for myself, and as you know, volleyball is a major part of my life, so when the opportunity to combine that with visiting a city I quite like, it didn’t take long for me to decide to go for it! After Slovenia’s success at the last year’s European Championship, they still have one more chance to qualify for the upcoming Olympic Games in Tokyo later this year. The qualifiers are now being held in Berlin, so it was basically a no brainer, whether to go watch it live or not. πŸ˜€

As I’ve got nothing but time while waiting here at the Venice Marco Polo airport, as you can see on the photos, it’s the right time to think ahead, to decide what else I could go see in Berlin. As it happened, I’m now traveling alone, which is another first for me. I mean, I have flown or travelled alone before, but staying in a city so far away from home for a few days alone is a completely different story. A lot of people have said that they couldn’t do it, and I agree that it would be better to have some company, but sometimes you also have to see how it will all turn out when you only have to look out for yourself, and not worry whether someone’s going to like your plan or not.

Another order of business for today is the hotel. I know that pictures can sometimes be misleading, of course, with all the technology available to us to alter them, but I will say that it looks like I have booked probably one of the best hotels in the city. It’s a 5-star hotel, a part of the French Accor Hotels group, called Sofitel. According to their official page, its rooms are way bigger than in any other hotel I’ve looked at, and the price itself is not that high, when you take all of the information provided into consideration. The one thing that fascinated me the most was that the bathrooms have a bath AND a separate shower! Remember, I’m writing this before I even got on the plane to Berlin, so for the “official” review, you’re just going to have to wait for a post coming later today, or in the early hours of tomorrow, since it’s going to be a busy evening tonight. πŸ™‚

So today’s agenda is mostly just getting to Berlin, settling in my hotel room and going to Max-Schmeling-Halle for tonight’s game between Slovenia and the hosts, Germany. At least, that’s the plan for now, it all depends on how soon I can get into the hotel room and then take it from there. Getting some more sleep probably wouldn’t hurt either but we’ll see. πŸ˜€

Let that be all for now and stay tuned for more posts coming up! πŸ™‚

Just another 90's kid, doing my best to have a fun life. Sports person, amateur photographer, occasional traveler, and just trying to make this world a nicer place, at least for the people around me.
