A look into the year 2020

Some time has passed again, since the last time I posted something on here, although a part of me has always been trying to find some interesting topic to write about, nothing was ever good enough, at least it didn’t sound good enough in my head. We’re well into the year already, with 2 months passed and it has been quite busy, but still an interesting first part of 2020 and I’m looking forward to the rest of it, since it looks like it is going to be pretty busy and full of new adventures! πŸ™‚

The actual beginning of the year wasn’t anything special for me, with my job keeping me occupied most of the days during Christmas/New Year holidays. Still, I took all the chances I got to just stay at home and relax as much as I could. But then, a few days into the year, things started happening. First, it was time to head to Berlin again, you can read about the first part of the trip here. With my post ending at the end of the first day, I’ll say a few words about the rest of the trip here. πŸ™‚

So, after going to the first game of the Olympic volleyball qualification tournament, there was another game coming up the following day. Even though I planned the whole trip to allow me to see all the games, I decided not to buy the ticket for the last game of the group phase, and rather buy one for the semifinals coming up later in the week. I rather spent that day walking around the city, and even though I have seen pretty much all of the most important sights the first time around, there were still some things I could have visited. One of those places was the German Spy Museum, which I wanted to visit last summer already, but it was much better to see it during this trip, being much less nervous and without any worry at the time of the visit.

It is quite a large museum, very modern, a little dark for my taste, but I would say that that’s to be expected, since the art of spying is mostly done in the shadows, so they might’ve tried to make the museum feel like that, too. There’s a lot of interesting things to see in the museum, many items that we use in our everyday lives, being used as spy equipment, that you wouldn’t even think about. The exhibitions are all very interactive, making the visitor even more involved and presenting the art of spying in a very fun way. Not that that’s not fun on its own already, at least to me, but it does help nevertheless. πŸ˜€ One of the most interesting things, in my opinion, was a laser game room, where you have to navigate your way across the room as fast as you can, while avoiding setting off the alarm.

The weather throughout the days I spent in Berlin wasn’t particularly good, although I thought it would be way worse. The forecast said there was going to be some rain, but in reality, there were only a few small drops and that was it. The last 2 days were beautiful though, the sun finally came out behind the clouds and it was just so lovely to walk around without worrying whether it’s going to rain or not. In the end, the trip was pretty great, even though I went by myself, and there are still some things left to be seen, for when/if I decide to go back in the future again. πŸ™‚

When I got back from Berlin, I immediately started planning my next trip. As I’ve already had a number of destinations in mind even before, it wasn’t, and it still isn’t, easy to decide where to go next. One of the most thought of destinations is Scotland. At the time that I’m writing this post, it’s exactly 2 years since we were there the first time, but I would still love to go back and see it once more.

Unfortunately, the plans that I’ve had in my head before will have to be put on hold for a bit, luckily though, not because of some bad things happening. The rest of the year is still going to be full of trips, some shorter ones, just for a couple days, or even some longer ones, taking me away for a week or more, going to some new places I haven’t visited before. Along with all the trips that I already have planned, there’s still going to be a lot of volleyball filled days, either being involved as a player or as a coach/assistant.

I do know that plans can easily fall apart in a heartbeat and everything goes awry, but by the looks of it right now, 2020 is going to be an amazing year! πŸ™‚ There’s lots of other plans still in the back of my mind, that I am currently working on, they aren’t progressing as fast as I’d hoped, with everything else going on though, just have to keep working on that, too, whenever I can.
