Let’s take a look back!

We are now more than 2 weeks into the year 2022 already, at the time of writing this, and I’ve had the idea for this post in my head for quite some time. However, I never actually sat down, put my mind to it and “say, what I wanted to say”, until now. Like I’ve done in some previous years, I just wanted to take a look back at the year that just ended, and share my views on how it went with all of you. Even though we’re still living in this weird pandemic era, I think a lot has happened throughout the year 2021 for me, a lot of good, and also plenty of bad things, but, like one of my closest friends told me, it’s good to show the dark sides of your life as well, so let’s get right into it!

The year 2021 hasn’t started all that well, to be completely honest. I wasn’t in the best place at the time, especially mentally, with constantly being bombarded with bad news, threats of lockdowns and some other personal stuff. I found my “safe haven” in video games, and video editing, which I’ve been really enjoying to this day, even though I haven’t been doing as much of it lately. Through gaming I’ve found quite a number of YouTube gaming channels that I started following, and with that I got even more into gaming. After thinking about it for a while, I finally decided to build my own gaming computer, even though I realize now, it wasn’t really the smartest idea to do it during the biggest chip shortage in history, meaning that every single component was at least 50% more expensive than before the shortage. If you want to read a bit more about this, you can click here, and see what I had to say about that.

April came along quite quickly, and it was quite a busy month actually. My sister being pregnant and having her due date at the beginning of that month, we were all nervously expecting the day, when we finally get to meet the little princess. And exactly in the middle of the month, I became an uncle to little Kiara! At the time of writing this post, she’s already 9 months old, and just such a bundle of joy for all of us in the house, that you can’t stay sad after spending a few minutes with her. 🙂

Another major event happened at the end of May, just before my birth month (which is June). With finally completing my gaming PC, I was able to participate in a 12 hour charity endurance race (read about it here), and that marked the beginning of my “streaming career”, if I could call it that. 😀 To be completely honest, that stream wasn’t actually my first stream, I had another one before that just to test out all the settings and see how it was all working. But being on camera for about 14 hours that day, participating in my first proper endurance race, in a game that I haven’t played all that much before that was definitely a challenge. Those of you that know me a bit better will know that I’m not really a big fan of being on camera, I rather stay behind it most of the time. Of course that stream wasn’t perfect, as I was still getting used to everything, but practice makes perfect! Even though I’m nowhere near that, even after over half a year later, but I do feel a lot more comfortable being on camera now, after all the streams that I’ve done.

Summer then brought some restrictions in Slovenia being lifted, and we were able to play volleyball again, after about 7 months or so, which was an amazing thing for me! I missed playing sports so much back then, so it was just great to be able to go out and play, hang out with people and just enjoy the summer. Unfortunately, with my work and everything, I was still too busy to do any more than what I have done, but anyway. Thankfully at the end of summer, we were able to switch over to indoor volleyball once again, which I do enjoy a bit more than beach volley.

One of the main things during 2021 for me was, of course, Formula 1 season. We have seen one of the most intense seasons ever, or at least since I started watching more closely. As we are waiting for the 2022 season to start at this point in time, and not knowing what to expect from it, things are looking even more interesting than last year! Some plans have been set in motion to go see a race in person at the track as well, so I’m really hoping that that actually comes true and I’ll be able to enjoy watching all the racing with some of the best friends I’ve met throughout 2021.

As the year has drawn to a close, things got even more hectic. Work being even more stressful, exhausting and frustrating, especially during the holidays. Thankfully, we were able to attend a volleyball tournament, after almost 2 years of not playing any “competitive” games, so that took some tension away, but everything just went downhill after that. When you’re frustrated with things like that, you sometimes do/say things that you otherwise wouldn’t, and it looks like that was exactly what happened to me as well. Even the best of people (I’m not trying to say I’m one of them :D) have bad days, which doesn’t mean that they are bad people all of a sudden, they’re just going through things and maybe just need a helping hand, someone to reach out to them and help them through those bad days.

But, to end this post on a bit of a more cheerful note, let’s all just look ahead into the future, hope that 2022 is going to bring us a lot of happiness, maybe some new things happen in our lives for the first time, and let’s just try to make it the best year we can! 🙂
