“And with that, the 2023 season comes to an end.”

As the year 2023 is behind us now, it is time to reflect on the whole year again, look back on everything that happened during the year and think about the year ahead a little bit as well. Let it be good or bad, last year’s happenings got me to where I am now, as I always say that everything happens for a reason. Of course we rarely get to find out what that reason is, but in the end, everything that happens to us, shapes us into the people we are. And this time, I can honestly say, there were more good moments than bad, so let’s quickly reflect on some of them throughout this post.

Despite what I just said a couple of rows higher, the year didn’t really start on a high. After working for only 3 months at the company where I still work now (spoiler alert :D), we got the news that the location where I was working at the time will be closing in a couple of months time. I usually need a few months to actually get comfortable with a job I’m doing, and just as I was starting to get into it more, we get this news. Well, it’s not like I’ve changed many jobs in my past so far, but looking back at it now, I can agree with a statement that I’ve seen online somewhere, regarding jobs, that it takes you 3 months to stand on your own two feet again, after changing jobs, then after 6 months you settle in properly, and after 12 months you actually know how to do the new job, when you’ve gone through most of the situations that could happen during the work process. I was still relatively unsure about myself in the line of work that I’m doing now still, and that whole change, when I got transferred to a different location, didn’t really help all that much. But as time went on, I got more confident in myself, and my abilities to do the job, and after about 6 months or so, I changed work locations yet again. Stayed in the same company still, but this time it was due to my own decisions, not someone else’s. That happened at the beginning of September, and I have to say, it’s definitely been a good decision!

But enough about work now, although that has been the biggest part of what I was doing the last couple of months. I mean, I know that’s not really a surprise, but before that, I was able to devote a lot more time to other things as well, besides work, like gaming and playing sports, but working in retail, the last couple of months of the year are always the busiest so I didn’t really have much energy left for anything else afterwards. I still managed to jump on my computer for a little bit, played sports as well, but not as much.

One great thing that happened this year as well, has been travelling. After more that 3 and a half years, I finally went on a (longer) trip abroad, and if you have been following my blog, you’ve probably read all about it already. There were a couple of other trips I had to take, to Croatia, that I haven’t written posts about on here, but the reasons for them weren’t really the most enjoyable, let’s put it that way, so we’re not going to be going into those details. But looking back on all of it, being able to visit some towns and cities I haven’t seen yet was just an amazing experience! Once again it showed that just visiting a city for a day or 2 is not enough, especially when you visit places as big as those were, like Munich and London for example.

One of my wishes for 2024 is also to travel a bit more than last year, if life will allow me to of course. There will be so many things happening this year, across Europe I mean, like the Olympic Games in Paris, and the European football championships in Germany, would be amazing to attend those events, but at the end of the day, it all comes down to having time and money for all of it. Of course there will be numerous racing events happening throughout the year, that would be fun to attend in person, but once again, there’s only so much that you can squeeze into the time off work that you can get, so stay tuned for what I end up doing this year.

So, to conclude this post, there’s lots of things already planned for 2024, some things I still only wish would come true, but one thing’s for sure – it is going to be a long year! But as these last few years have proven, despite it being a long year, it’s going to fly by, I’m sure! The most important thing, as I always say, is to have fun, no matter what happens along the way. We never know what life’s going to bring, so let’s just enjoy this year as best as we can! 🙂
