In my previous post, I thought I was going to be able to take you along on the rest of the journey throughout my time in Germany, however, everything that was going on kept me quite busy that when the evening came, and time for bed was near, I basically spent some time with the family and passed out as soon as my head hit the pillow, like I said in my previous post as well. Of course when you only have a few days to spend with the people you haven’t seen in a long while, you tend to use every possible moment you can.
Since it’s been a few days now since we got back home, I decided it was time to put my thoughts down and just take a look back on what happened, as well as take you all along with me for the ride. I won’t be going too much into detail of every single day, apart from the last couple of days of the trip, because those were actually the most eventful in my opinion. A lot has happened in the days prior as well, but the way back home – it was something else, let’s put it that way for the time being.
Visiting the place up there (in Germany) where my relatives live, it was always a great adventure, and I always enjoyed the time spent there so much! This time was no different, from the moment we stepped off the train, till the last moment when we hopped back on one. Like I already mentioned, so many different things have happened during those 4 days, it was just incredible how we were able to squeeze it all into that time. Starting off with Friday, it was time to head into town for a little bit, have a walk round and just see what changed since the last time we were there, which was 7 years ago. We’ve done a bit of shopping as well, nothing crazy of course, as we said Monday was going to be the main day for that, to buy things to take back home with us. Very quickly Saturday came along, which was actually the main day for all of us, going to the church and have a lovely lunch afterwards. Went to an Asian restaurant, which was something I was really excited about when I first heard the plan. You know me and food, especially Asian food!
That evening, the plan also included a get together with some other friends and family, get some food again, have a few drinks and just enjoy some time together. The food was amazing once again, more of a Balkan style, which made things feel even more like home, and the whole evening was just super fun in the end! We ended up coming home around 4 in the morning, before another fun day planned.
As I said many times before, whenever we visit that part of Germany, I have to go to the North Sea as well, since it only takes about 30-40mins to get to the coast. This time, since we didn’t have our car with us there, that would have been a bit more difficult to do, so I kind of gave up on that, but I was pleasantly surprised to find out that that has already been planned. Sunday was the day then when it was time to go to the coast once again, and make my wish come true yet again. As lovely as it is to get to see the coast and the sea and all that, the wind and the cold weren’t too enjoyable to be honest. Yeah, I know the wind’s blowing up there constantly, but it’s still not the best of feelings. Apart from that, the weather was splendid, as you can see on the photo below!

On Monday, our last day there, we decided to venture into the town once again, grab some coffee first and head off to the shops. I bought myself a new suitcase, bigger than the one I brought with me to get there, so I was able to pack a lot more stuff into it to bring back home. Which meant I went shopping some more! We had some great laughs that evening, and the evening before that, playing some card games, which is always a great way to spend time together, at least in my book!
I thought I was going to squeeze the journey back home into this post, but I didn’t think it was going to be as long as it is, which means I’m going to have to write another one focusing only on the way back, and remember all the stress that it brought. But until then, have a great day (or night, depending when exactly are you reading this), and stay tuned for more very soon! 🙂
