Roller coasters and reckless laughter!

A lot of time had passed since my last trip abroad, just over three years now, and in that time, even though I wanted to post more on here, there was just so much going on that there was barely any time left for day to day activities, let alone anything outside of that, including travelling. As mentioned in my previous post, I took on coaching a volleyball team with a friend of mine, which is now taking up even more of my time than before, but I wouldn’t have it any other way these days, if I’m being completely honest.

With my friend taking a slight step back, due to family matters, happy ones at that as well, I’ve taken on a lot more responsibility around the team and everything surrounding it. Of course we’re both still very much involved, me in the forefront, and him slightly more in the background, but anyway. We came up with an idea last year already, to take the team to some kind of a (volleyball) trip/tournament, outside of the borders of our own country. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to make that plan happen last year, but we got it sorted for this year.

We joined the other teams from our volleyball club in attending the Volley Garda Lake Cup tournament, held on the southern side of Lake Garda, Italy. For me personally, of course this was very interesting and excining from the beginning, since I haven’t been to this part of Italy before, which gave me some new ideas, and I’m putting them down in here right now!

When the whole plan for the trip was brought up, it was only meant to be a trip to participate at the tournament, and that would pretty much be it. Depending on the schedule, maybe visit some places close by, but that would’ve been that. However, and I don’t know why I didn’t think of this myself, we decided, along with the other teams, to visit Gardaland Resort amusement park before heading to the tournament, for some adrenaline thrills!

And so we set off one sunny morning from Ljubljana, heading towards the resort, which was probably the most important and the most fun part of the trip for the team, before setting off. After about a 4 hour drive, we arrived at our destination, where the fun was about to begin!

As I’m writing this post the morning after our visit to the resort, I will admit that I’m not the biggest fan of amusement park rides like they have in there. I have ridden a few of the rides, and I enjoyed them, but I hadn’t really been able to “force” myself to go onto the biggest and fastest ones. I’ll say that I left those for one of the next visits on purpose.

The team however, they couldn’t hold in their excitement when we first crossed the entrance gate. You could just tell how much fun they were going to have, and that really was the case for all of them. We crossed paths a few times throughout the day, just to check in and see how everything was, and the smiles on their faces were just amazing to see!

The day at the resort eventually had to come to an end of course, and that meant getting to our accommodation for the rest of the weekend, get some dinner, take a super short walk along a very small part of the coast of Lake Garda, and finish off the day pretty late in the evening. It was quite a tiring day for everyone, myself included, even though I wouldn’t have admitted that out loud, but one of the best days in a while, that I’m absolutely 100% certain about!

With the morning of day 2 just starting, we have a couple of games coming up today, and it’s surely going to be yet another tiring but insanely fun day for everyone, and fun is what we’re all here for! Day 1 is probably going to turn out to be the most eventful one, but who knows what can still happen in these few days that we have here!
